Welcome to The International Au Pair Exchange!

Finding the right childcare can be a real challenge for parents who want only the best for their children. Families across the U.S. have discovered one particular type of childcare that is affordable, flexible and reliable – au pair childcare.

An au pair is an international person between the ages of 18 and 26 who comes to the U.S. for an educational and cultural experience. Au pairs get to experience everyday life with an American host family while host families benefit from affordable, live-in childcare.

The International Au Pair Exchange (TIAPE) is one of only 15 organizations in the U.S. designated by the U.S. Department of State to administer the au pair exchange program and legally sponsor au pairs to live with an American host family.

TIAPE specializes in skilled au pairs – au pairs with university/vocational degrees or significant experience in childcare-related fields such as early childhood education, teaching and pediatric nursing. We offer two specialized programs: Infant Care and Childcare Ages 2+. TIAPE sources our au pairs directly through our company-owned office in Germany. This personalized vetting ensures that host families will be matched with a highly qualified au pair.

Our program follows the U.S. Department of State guidelines for the au pair exchange program. This includes up to 45 hours per week of live-in childcare provided by an English-speaking au pair. The program cost is per family, not per child, making it particularly affordable for families with multiple children. TIAPE also offers a monthly “pay as you go” payment plan.

TIAPE manages all the logistical details once a host family has matched with an au pair, including visa sponsorship, international airfare, travel and accident insurance, and local support. All au pair programs last for a minimum of 12 months (one year). For host families and au pairs wishing to continue their relationship beyond the initial 12-month program, TIAPE can arrange a one-time program extension for an additional six, nine of 12 months.
